Avenue of the Giants Marathon
The Avenue of the Giants Marathon runs through old-growth redwood forest in Northern California, where the trees block the sky and the road is almost completely flat. It is quiet, unusual, and unlike most marathons you will ever run.

Race-Day Weather
Early May in Humboldt County runs cool and often damp. You are under heavy forest canopy for most of the race, which keeps direct sun off you but also traps moisture. Expect a cold start in the low 40s and a high that rarely breaks the mid-50s. That sounds ideal, but the combination of cool air and humidity can make sweat management tricky. Bring a throwaway layer for the corral and plan to run in it longer than you think. Rain is possible. This is a weather window that favors fast running if you dress right.
Entry
Open registration via RunSignup with tiered pricing: $100 until January 2, $120 until February 29, $145 until May 1. Race typically sells out; 2026 edition was sold out with waitlist available.
