Privacy Policy

Last updated: May 11, 2026

This Privacy Policy explains how RaceScout (“we,” “us,” or “our”) collects, uses, and shares information when you use racescout.ai and any related services (collectively, the “Service”). RaceScout is operated as a solo project. If you have questions, contact us at cuddymg@gmail.com.

What we collect

We try to collect as little as possible. The categories are:

Information you provide. When you sign up for updates, fill out a preference quiz, or contact us, you may share things like your email address, your running goals (target time, preferred distance, region), and any free-text notes about what you’re looking for in a race.

Usage data. When you visit the Service, we automatically collect basic technical information including your IP address, browser type, device type, referring page, and the pages and races you view. We use this to understand how the Service is used and to improve it.

Cookies and similar technologies. We use a small number of cookies for essential functionality (keeping you signed in, remembering your preferences) and analytics. We do not sell cookie data. You can disable cookies in your browser, though some parts of the Service may not work as expected.

How we use information

We use the information we collect to:

  • Operate and maintain the Service, including generating personalized race recommendations.
  • Communicate with you — for example, replying to your messages, sending product updates if you’ve opted in, and notifying you about meaningful changes to the Service.
  • Understand how the Service is used so we can improve recommendations, fix bugs, and design new features.
  • Detect, prevent, and respond to abuse, fraud, or security issues.
  • Comply with legal obligations.

We do not sell your personal information.

How we share information

We share information only in these limited circumstances:

Service providers. We use third-party providers to run the Service — hosting (Vercel), database (Supabase), email (Resend), analytics (PostHog), and similar infrastructure. These providers process information on our behalf and are bound by their own privacy and security obligations.

Affiliate and referral partners. When you click a “Register on RunSignup” or similar affiliate link, the destination site may receive a referral identifier indicating you came from RaceScout. This allows us to earn a small commission on qualifying registrations at no cost to you. The destination site’s own privacy policy governs what happens once you arrive there.

Legal and safety. We may disclose information if required by law, subpoena, or court order, or if we believe in good faith that disclosure is necessary to protect rights, safety, or property.

Business transfers. If RaceScout is ever acquired, merged, or otherwise transferred, information may be transferred as part of that transaction. We’ll notify users in advance of any such transfer that materially affects how data is handled.

Your choices

  • Email updates. You can unsubscribe from any non-essential email at any time using the link in the email.
  • Account information. You can request a copy of the information we hold about you, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete it by emailing cuddymg@gmail.com. We’ll respond within a reasonable timeframe.
  • Analytics. You can use browser-level “Do Not Track” signals or analytics opt-outs. We honor them where technically feasible.

Data retention

We keep information for as long as we need it to operate the Service and meet legal obligations. When information is no longer needed, we delete or anonymize it.

International users

RaceScout is operated from the United States. If you access the Service from outside the U.S., your information will be transferred to and processed in the U.S., which may have different data protection laws than your country.

Children

The Service is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect information from them. If you believe a child has provided us information, contact us and we’ll delete it.

Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we’ll update the “Last updated” date at the top of this page. Material changes will be communicated more prominently — for example, by email or an in-product notice.
