Shamrock Marathon
The Shamrock Marathon runs along the Virginia Beach coastline in cool spring conditions, offering a flat out-and-back course that rewards patient, even-effort racing.

Race-Day Weather
March in Virginia Beach means a cold corral and a mild finish, so plan for both. You'll likely start in the low 40s and warm into the mid-to-upper 50s by the later miles. That gap is big enough to matter: dress in throwaway layers for the gun, because you'll want to shed them once you're moving. The back half of this out-and-back runs along the coast, so wind off the water can be a real factor. On a calm day it's a solid window for a fast race. On a breezy one, you're racing the conditions.
Entry
Registration is open for the 55th running of the Shamrock Marathon in 2027. The race uses open registration and closes when the event reaches capacity.

Most travelling runners fly into DCA, about 150 miles from the start, a longer haul by rideshare or transit, roughly a 237-minute trip. Stay close to the start in Virginia Beach, VA so you're not fighting race-morning closures and transit on tired legs. Arrive a day early to clear the expo and bib pickup, and build in buffer for gear-check and corral entry.
